Does anyone know what the proper type oil filter cartridge would be for a 1940 AC Type L4 oil filter assembly. Is there a place that you can purchase them now.

Thank You

Sparky

AC L-14 Kleer Kleen is the original oil filter for the L-4. Since the original oil filters probably have deteriorated over the years, I would recommend that if you have an original AC L-14, that it remain in the display case.
My records show that a Fram C3 oil filter fits in the AC L-4 canister. These Fram filters are readily available thru our local TSC - Tractor Supply Company.
Sparky, are you mounting this on a 1940 passenger car? If so, how?

P-115 AC Oil filters I believe are correct for the AC S-6 Oil Filter, not the AC L-4. S-6 was an oil filter that I believe began usage in about 1948.

Mr Toolman,

Yes Iam mounting this on a passenger car. I have not gotten to the point to mount it yet as I just received this unit from my brother in Kansas. It has a mounting bracket, that without having my car & the L-4 together at the same time I would say that it mounts on 2 of the carb bolts on top of the manifold and 1 bolt to the front side of the manifold on top. The single bolt hole is at a 90' angle to the other two. If you would like pictures of it or more information on it let me know and I will send you some.

Thank you all for help.

Bookie,

Sorry for the slow response. I currently do not have a filter so I can not answer that question.
