I hear guys have good luck on website of Auto Color Library....altho I would think a PPG paint store would have good info available in their books or computer or both. (Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking---???)
Hope my comments help you.....
Bill.

I think that as it turns out, many pigments used in paint "back in the day" are no longer used today so that early paint and formula numbers are a foreign language to paint mixers. I had to find original paint hidden under a voltage regulator or other protected ares and in one case, even an original paint chip sheet and have them scanned as needed for modern paint formulas. I am told that the scanned colors are just a "hint" dark but I cannot verify that yet.

Easy Money,
Sorry, I do NOT have the PPG paint code for the 'cream' top. I'm sure the actual name for top color in 1954 is "India Ivory."
Sort of "confessing" here....my top is actually too white. It should be a little more "off white" looking. I doubt the previous owner gave a poop about getting the color exactly correct. I've always said it sould be more "Ivory" looking. Altho interesting to note the Romany Red bottom is spot on according to me and most all observers.
Did you have any luck looking at Auto Color Library chips/paint codes/etc???
The car was painted in 1976. Around 6-8 months before I acquired it. Still looks good!!!
Wish I could help more, but.....
Bill.

Don't know if this helps but here goes. I have an original PPG factory cross reference document that crosses the original Ditzler number to the PPG Duracryl Acrylic Lacquer (DDL) number. While DDL is no longer available, you might be able to go from the DDL number to a modern paint code. The document says Paint Code 450, Moonlight Cream was originally 80473 that crosses to DDL 81616. Paint Code 448, Aspen Green Poly was originally 41069 and that crosses to DDL 43750. By the way Code 445 crosses to DDL 44413. Hope it helps. Mike

While DDL is no longer available... DDL is available where I live and my local PPG store keeps several gallons of it in stock.

I painted my 1951 about 10 years ago, using PPG's product DCC - a single stage acrylic urethane. I have a couple of old color chip charts that I took to the paint store to have them match the Moonlight Cream as closely as they could. Here is the formula that they came up with:
DMC908 Yellow 164.0 parts DMC937 Green 6.8 parts DMC902 Black 5.8 parts DMC900 Str White 1164.3 parts
I didn't have any good hidden areas of original paint on the car to compare the new paint to the old, but am very happy with how it looks.
