I have an original 1955 Chev 265 V-8 with the optional oil filter. This filter canister (according to all the pictures in the books), was painted a light blue color. Does anyone know what color this is (name, code, etc.) and where I can find a small quantity. One spray can should be enough. Thanks.

The 6 filters were black form the factory, blue orange if dealer or home installed, the decals were different also. Don

I know it has been a while, but what did you end up doing about the blue oil filter paint? I have the exact same question.
Thank you, Dennis

When I was trying to figure it out I was told to use Ford Engine Blue from a parts store.

If the filter was orderd from the factory as an option it was black, 6 or 8 cylinder. All the Avis reat-a-cars had them. The Ford blue is aboout as close as you can get. It was used on 6 Cyl. oil filters from 1950-1961 (1962 6 came with a factory filter and was black) as wel as the 1955 dealer installed filter.

Sounds like Ford blue it is. Thank you very much.
Any advice on the engine fan/pulley? It is black, but not sure if it should be flat/satin/gloss etc.
Thank you again and Merry Christmas to all, Dennis

I believe there are two ford engine blue colors. One is lighter than the other. Hope this is helpful.

The fan pully was kind of between gloss and semi. Semi is generally used.
