Any listing of the different names of the Chevrolet six cylinder engines from the earliest up through the present? And, which ones had it stenciled on the valve cover. Well, at least the from thrities thru sixties, maybe. Charlie On reflection, I may have stuck this post in the wrong forum. Sorry.

Do you want the names that the owners call their engines when they stall in traffic or won't start also?????ED
I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED

Eastern Ed and GLYN, Y-all bout to cause me to gnash (read grind) my teeth. I declare! I was talking about like say... The 41 being a Victory Six. Although I don't think it was stenciled, as such. I think there were some called "Loadmaster", Thriftmaster, etc. I don't know how many others. I know that some were stenciled and other names were not. I'm interested in both. Maybe if no name for the engine, the nickname will work just as well. Tiny calls his ride "Sweetie" so why not the engine as well, even when it's acting up. I thought this question would bring a lot of knowing responses. Seems I was wrong. Best to everyone, Charlie

The first passenger car engine to have a "name" on the valve cover was the 1953 Power Glide. It had the Blue Flame name. The Blue Flame name was first used in 1934 and it refered to the "Blue Flame" combustion chamber.
