I own a 1944 chevy truck, a civilian blackout model, the flatbed is missing and the original outside door handles which were tin coated with brown plastic for the war years are gone but the truck is complete otherwise the original engine has never been out or disassembled as far as I can tell. I am searching for a factory shop manual. does anyone know whether the shop manual was printed in 44 or did they use a 42 manual through the war years. there were only 108 of these built that year so not much info on them any info or help would be appreciated, I got this truck for free they thought it was a 46 and were going to cut it up for scrap said it wasn't worth fixing, I haven't determined wether it's a 216 or 235 yet the block and casting numbers don't match any charts I've looked at the #s stamped next to the distributor are DCA486319 thanks in advance for any assistance given.

The DC indicates the engine is a 1946 1 1/2 ton light duty - which would have been a 216.
The 1942-1945 engine numbers would have began with an A or a B.
The 1942-1945 and early 1946 trucks were generally considered 1942 models as far as parts are concerned.
The shop manual available covers 1942-1948 cars and 1942-1946 trucks.
