An early 1951 Bel Air in two tone green will have paint #456. A change was made in April and the paint number changed to 464.
The dark green, Fathom Green remained the same. The light green, Aspen Green, was reformulated.
The Bel Air had the light green on top. The post sedan models had the dark green on top.

I know about the tag and got info some time ago on # 464 paint. When removing paint from the top there was a lot of pin holes in the light green paint top. It looked like some one had repainted the top. Under the lite green was gray primer then what looks like the darker green, same as the bottom. Under that was red primer by the factory. Were the bodies painted all one color and then the top painter after. Thanks.

Mistake ? Under the light green I thought was primer but now I think it,s a dull or olive green. Maybe the earlier BelAir top color ! Not one I wood choose when I repaint !
