Hey guys, new to the forum. My grandfather has asked me to do a bit of research on his 1922 Chevy 490 coupe. He spent a better part of a decade refinishing it and wondered how much it might be worth. Any ideas? I can post pictures if needed.

I think you could be getting nearer to a market price if you post pictures here. So try and I think someone will help. And no need to move this subject to another group. It belongs to the one here.

Thanks, it's up to me whether we sell it. I kind of want to keep it and just keep driving it around.

This is the Utility Coupe which was a new style for the 1922 490 line. The five window 490 and the three window Utility were both offered that year. The three window body was a prelude to the Superior models that came out in 1923. You have a very nice looking car. Given that you have the option to keep or sell, I'd say keep it. After all it is your Gramp's car.

I would vote to keep it. Even if you could find another one, it certainly wouldn't be as nice, nor would it have all the restoration workmanship by your Grampa.
BTW a Chevrolet dealership in Smithville, MO has a 1922 490 Coupe, unrestored in sort of a grass green color. The "Colonel" who has worked there since he was a kid, is 92 years old, sharp as a tack and at the dealership talking cars every day. Thats the way to grow old!

May be you could wait until later to decide about selling the car. This is a rare, real beauty and to me a great show stopper!! Learn to drive it as soon as you can. We have lots of experiences owners/drivers here on the chat. Join the VCCA, as well. If you enjoy the special feeling of handling such an old car, you most certainly will find it worth while to keep it in the family. That is the only one and nothing can replace it.

Thanks for all the responses. I would love to keep it but not sure that's an option at he moment. If I were to sell it what should I expect to get?

I hope some of the US members can give you some sensible value. Due to the very limited numbers of good running 490s in Scandinavia the price for your car specially could be more than $ 15 - 20.000,- over here. But I hope you keep it for some time to learn and feel the satisfaction of driving such a family car, before you even think of selling it. Good luck!

Unfortunately I really have to sell this. Any ideas on where to list it or how to sell it?
