This seems like a simple question. Just making sure before I add wrong type. Need to make sure right type of fluids for 1933 Chevy coupe. Need type and weight for engine oil, transmission and rear end.

Most of us use 10W-30 detergent oil in the engines, 600W or SAE 160 (alternate SAE 140) in transmissions, rear ends and steering columns. Lower viscosity transmission fluid is not recommended. Leaks too much! If all you can find is lower viscosity, 10-25% chassis grease mixed into the high viscosity oil so it flows like molasses or honey is an alternative.

A few use synthetic oil in the engine but my recommendation is don't waste your money. Same for non-detergent oils. High mileage oil is probably okay. Some have started using it and report less leakage.

I know I used a product from Lucas 85w-140 gear oil. Would this be acceptable?

Not on my car. Mac's sells a 600w. It solved my messy floor problems. High mileage oil has a higher zinc content which is good. (In my opinion, it's like Hershey syrup in milk)

Quaker State now sells an oil called DEFY. It is for service SL and has 1600 PPM of zinc like the oils for 10 years ago. SM and SL oils have 800 PPM. It is available at Walmart for just a little more than todays SN oil.
