This may be common everywhere else but here in Tennessee, but we are now seeing two regular gas pumps (side by side) at the gas stations. One has 100% gasoline and the other has 10% Alcohol and 90% gasoline. The 100% choice is 9 cents higher. I just noticed the change the other day. I thought the forth pump in the line was Diesel but then took another look to see five pumps in the line. I can't see any difference in the regular choices of gas. Some guys swear they get 5MPG better gas mileage with pure gas, but you know gas mileage is one of those things guys exaggerate about... ref

I would imagine you'd get better mileage with "pure" gas...Man, I wish they do this in Californee...Fat chance.

I don't know how much better the gas mileage might be but I'm willing to bet that most of us would like to have that choice. I'm guessing that the nine cents is about 3 percent more than the fake gas. At that rate you would only need about a half a mpg to break even. Eliminating the water borne headaches by itself is worth the extra.

What's odd is that a lot of cars have a flex fuel emblem on the rear or burn E85 gas and there isn't any available without driving completely out of the area.

Another thing is on my new cars it says in the manual the computer/engine will adjust everything to burn any grade of fuel.Only 2% of todays cars need to run high test gas.

Here in Vermont there are some gas stations that provide ethanol free gas, but only during the summer months. The past couple of years they provided no ethanol regular, but this year they only had premium no ethanol at a real "premium" price. I used the regular no ethanol when it was available, but the premium grade was a little too rich for my blood. I think the engines, automobile, small engine and marine (outboards) run better and get better mileage with the no ethanol gas. Let the cows eat the corn, we don't need it in our gasoline.

The 2013 Silverado has a model that runs on Natural Gas but AGAIN there's no Natural gas available except at the NG dealers. A NG station at my home was estimated to cost $3000. What if you couldn't get back home? wazzup

Down here there are NG systems but to get a reasonable distance between fills the container takes up all the luggage space. Where as LPG is fairly common use and I can travel for 7 1/2 hrs on 90 litres at about 1/2 the cost of the dirty E10 petrol. Proper petrol (95 octane) is about 12c a litre extra cost and premium (98 octane) is about 15c a litre over E10.

When we were in Columbia TN for the SFT there was one station that I could find with alcohol free fuel and it was 15 cents a gallon higher than E10. My issue with E85 vehicles is they get 30% worse gas mileage but the fuel is only about 10% cheaper around here.

Tiny....Don't loose sleep over it. I am sure you know that Oil companies are out to squeeze you for every cent they can get out of you...What is needed in this country is folks to descend upon these oil company executives with pitchforks, tar and feather a few of them, and then watch things change.
