Hey guys-
just picked up a 31 2 door sedan (maybe Coach) not sure. it is a barn find and in pretty good shape. ran 8 years ago or so. it came with a bunch of spare parts, 2 extra complete motors, 2 more heads, 2 more exhaust manifolds and a bunch of boxes i have not gone thru yet. ouside of a swap meet and ebay is there any other sites to sell some of this stuff on? maybe something related just to old chevys?
thanks i sure i will be asking a lot of questions as i move forward.

Welcome aboard hotrodpickup. You found a great place to get answers to your restoration questions. Think about becoming a VCCA member...you'll get to see more forums here on Chevy Chat, get access to more Chevy information on the VCCA website and get a great monthly club magazine (the G&D) too.

In the meantime, scroll down this page a bit and you will see a Parts For Sale forum. You can post your items for sale there (don't forget to post the price for each item). You will probably get some action there.

I am searching for a 1931 Horn. It is a pancake vibrator horn that is chrome plated. I am hoping in your box of parts that you might have one. Please let me know when you have time.

I am fairly close by about an hour or so, if you have some pictures of the stuff it would help.

STOP, STOP, STOP!

I too am a new guy, only having had posession of my '32 for five months. It was in the family for years, in great shape, rebuilt engine and lots of care. I have spare parts. I remember saying that i'll never need all that stuff. Let's see if I can list everything I've used off the spares so far:

1 carbuerator float
2 Rear axle hubs
2 axle bearing nut locks
2 front brake cams
1 front brake lever
2 front brake pin & disks

After this is all done, it's time to start rebuilding the steering gear box. And I'm just getting started.

My advice is to hold onto all that stuff for a year, work through your basic issues and get it in tip-top shape. Then start selling off the stuff left over.

The only good thing about getting rid of the stuff now is it makes for less clutter. The problem that always seems to happen is a need develops shortly for what you just got rid of. Dang, I hate it when that happens. But.....

i know i need to keep some suff but the garage is getting full. will go thru the stuuf and keep what i think i might need extras of and sell of doubles and triples. not sure i need 3 motors , 5 heads , 5 exhaust manifolds ect. but i learned on my last project about tossing things i didnt think i needed.

You might want to think twice....or maybe even three times about disposing of the 5 cylinder heads. Cylinder heads of that era are prone to cracking and you might even find that 5 spare cylinder heads is not enough. And, crack-free cylinder heads sell at a very high premium!
