After months, I am now ready to have my 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe Four Door painted. I gave my body shop the Dupont color chip for 1940 which listed the color Ruby Maroon Metallic and the code 202-33042-M.

My body shop can't find any paint brand for that specific color. That color looks fantastic, check the G&C cover 4/01.

Thanks for your help!

Check the posts under DocB-Blazon Blue Striping.1937-42-Worth a try.

From my experiance they say there are no mixing formulas for the old colors.Have had no luck in that area.

My suggestion is to find a modern color (actually on a car) that comes as close as possible. Then you will know for sure what it will look like.Better than spending over a hundred dollars for a gallon of paint only to find it dosen't look right after its applied.

Ruby maroon is Ditzler (PPG) #50014. If you've got a customer oriented PPG store they'll crank it out for you. Also, our local Sherwin Williams store is able to cross reference the Ditzler numbers to their colors and match the paint. Have not ever tried the Dupont guys. Good Luck. Mike Deeter
