Something I noticed when looking at the photos Steve posted, but too far afield to include on that string. The radio dial and knobs are mounted on a face plate that appears to be the same size as what would otherwise be a block-off plate. My 37 has what my best guess, based on the type of knobs were on it, says is a 38, but there is no face plate. I now have another mission, is there any difference between the face plate for a 37 and a 38? Any ideas where to look (other than the overpriced trash bin eBay)?

Big difference. The 38 faceplate is wider. The 37 is more square looking.

I bought a 37 that just had the dial and knobs and MADE it work on a 38 faceplate by drilling holes to fit ,just for looks. I refuse to give $900 for a non working radio.

Thanks to you both for those pictures and the information. In the meantime, I see that Chevs of the 40s has a block-off plate, can anyone tell me if, aside from the holes I would have to tap, it would pass for a 37 face plate? I have a feeling it will take some time to find the real thing. Appreciate any input.

I started to say something about that but couldn't figure out exactly what it was that I was looking at. Cowboy boots aren't really that popular in Tennessee. newangel

Maybe, so thanks for the reference. I am wondering if the radio face plate is, aside from the holes, identical to the delete plate. If anyone has a head-on picture of their 37 radio, that would be great.

No offense taken. My dear departed Mom made those when I was just a tyke. Most hang the proverbial fuzzy dice over their mirror but some of us need to be different. nanana
