I just bought a 55 1st series pick up . Will I need to buy both 54 and 55 manuals to work on it . thanks for any help.

You should be able to read what you need from the manuals online...I only buy them when I need to take-up shelf space...And lighten my wallet...

I feel that the more info that you have available, the better. I believe that the '55 first shop manual is a supplement to the '54 manual.
