Don't know,but really slick car. I like it.

Really nice car. I noticed the molded heater hose, adds another clean set lines to the engine bay.

The molded hoses are a nice feature. It cleans up the engine bay.

She sure is a beauty! But what is that square, louvered thing, above and behind the valve cover? any Ideas?

My car has that same louvered box behind the valve cover, I have never been able to figure out why it's there.

I must admit that I can't see the device you are talking about, however, from the description it is the vent behind the radio box. I note from the pictures that the car is equipped with the radio.

I can't see it either. All I see is the indention in the firewall.

Ray, look at picture #5, it's on the cowl showing between the upper heater hose and the back of the accessory horn.

Yep, now I see it. I was correct that it is a part of the radio.

I recall the 37 has two round knock out plugs in the center firewall where radio amp heat escapes thru a louvre cover. On my 39 the two round plugs are next to the regulator so the radio box mounts above the pedals.

Wonder why a 38 doesn't have the same thing, I thought the radios were almost alike.

The '38 has the exact same thing. There are two knock out plugs with little tabs to grab and break the plugs off the firewall leaving holes. The louvered thing is called a muffler for some reason and has two tabs at the top for self tapping screws that go into little holes already in the firewall and a tab at the middle bottom that fits over the stud holding the speaker to the firewall and a nut holds it there. It then covers the holes in the firewall. It is only used on the Super Heterodyne 7 tube radio with the firewall speaker. Literature talks about equalizing the pressure behind the speaker that's up tight against the firewall pad on the cabin side. They were probably worried about something they didn't need to be worried about.

I just looked back at the photos. The installation lit also calls for a ground strap running from the speaker stud to the back acorn nut holding the valve cover .

At the bottom of the radio muffler I see a Vacuum plug over a stud. I guess that's the connection where the ground hooks up? I guess this car doesn't have that ground wire.

Yeah, I think there is some red pretty thing over the end of the stud and definitely there is no ground strap. And I agree that is where the strap would hook up. The stud is hooked into the back of the speaker and held to the firewall with a nut; the muffler then goes on the stud with its own nut and that nut is the one that also holds the ground strap end.

I like the horn relay mounted on the trumpet horn. It keeps the firewall from being cluttered up.

Yes and the wiring size is pretty large.

One thing he's missing is the support strap for the accessory horns. Not a good picture of it but you can see it.
