Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could get my steering box repaired. At some point water got into the box and ate away at the worm gear making it pretty much flat on one side. I am having little luck finding a place to do it.
Thanks, -Davis38

Hello Davis38,
I contacted Larescorp in Mn, USA. I found them in an old Obsolete Chevy parts catalog. They quoted me a price of $309.75 + S/H, providing it is a good core. I contacted them in early summer so I don't think the cost has changed. At the time I told them that I didn't plan to send it till the end of fall early winter so I can't comment on their workmanship.

Yes that is what I am looking for, however I think I am just gonna send it off to have it rebuilt. Larescorp has a lifetime guarantee which is always a good thing for me.

The only problem with a lifetime warranty is it the lifetime of the vehicle or owner or company doing the rebuild?

I think you are wise. You should have a better than new steering box when you get it back.

Of course I'm not planning on getting hit by a truck tomorrow, but...I will have peace of mind knowing the slop in the wheel is not on account of the steering box...!

Your loved ones and insurance company will also rest easier. Your doctor may not as you won't be getting as much exercise.
