How do these attach to the body on the 48 Aero?I have been told 2 different ways
I also assume they go in after the back panel

The panels I received from LeBarron Bonney have cut outs to accsess the tail lights and two large holes towards the back for what????

Neither!
To start with, mine was cut back-wards just like yours. Turner out to be a good thing. I used them to "play" with. When I installed them they did not fit very well in several respects. At the front, against the seat back panel or at the top. Did not follow the contour of the trunk. Not very sure they were for a 4 door.

After several trim and tries I got them to fit fairly well. By the way, that hole came in very handy getting them in and out. I figured that's why it was there???

I'll get you a pic of the finished panel shortly. But in the meantime this is what I figured, with the help of some pictures I have on file. By the way, in my photos, their is no signs of any fasteners. Usually, after many years, they begin to sag and slide out of place.

I have no idea if your Aero is anything like this. May have to pull back that Burlap mad

Off to get you a few more photos

He's back, How it fits around tail light. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com]

How it fits behind lip. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com]

How it fits at top. Sort of slides in slot. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com]

How it did NOT fit very well at front, but I let it go. mad [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com]

One word of caution. GO EASY. They "Kink" easy. Use your wrong ones to practice with.

Great pictures and description, Russell. Thanks for posting. Those little metal tabs could tear into the paper panels pretty easily I'd imagine. Your careful trimming & handling looks like it paid off. Good job!

Not to hijack a thread, but I remember my Dad shipping those panels to Hampton Coach from his '48 Sportmaster Sedan back in the early 1990's. They allegedly made the pattern for the reproductions from his original set since they were in really nice shape, and were different than other 4 door and aerosedan models.
