Chrome the shell, buy the insert. Chroming the insert is way too expensive if they do a first class job.

The insert material is stainless steel......from the filling station you want the 1932--36 RW-702 at $275.00 This was made by HARRIS ENGINEERED REPRODUCTIONS in Houston Texas. Google them for web site if they are still doing it ? I bought my 34- 35 std mesh from the originator in PENN> quite a few years ago ( 1972 ). They originally did it back in 1972 first.......unfortunately he collapsed in his driveway to the MASSIVE demand from his hemmings motor news advert. Just swamped him and he spent a week in hospital. Back then very few items were reproduced for 33--35 chevs. mike lynch

Just curious as to the cost of replating the shell. I have seen prcies ranging from $700.00 to $1400.00. I'm sure some of that is due to the amount of work needed to straighten or repair the shell. The $700.00 price was for plating only and repairs were quoted @ an additional $30.00 per hour.

I spent 1000.00 a year and a half ago for both shell and insert. They were done in Ohio and it came out pretty well. One thing is I would do any repair myself I had them fix one spot underneath the weather seal and I wasn't that pleased with it other than that it looked very good. Todd
