VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
I heard enough of that (Tap's) when I was in the Army. BTW...I could not help but notice (being I am a retired Building Inspector)That some of those balconies, that the neighbors came out on, were in violation of the national Building Code. If some of those folks are not careful he may be playing "tap's" for them......Ed
I was only wrong one time in my life so far. But that time I was right, and only thought I was wrong....ED
That's funny that they allow "Grandfathering" safety in. So basically Grandpa has to fall off an unsafe balcony before someone takes notice of the hazard. I bet the same city that allows "Grandfathering" are the ones that get sued for not taking safety seriously when stuff does go wrong!!

Well said. I do have turning signals and Halogen 6Volt lights but stock brakes and no seat belts. I don't think a 38 would be a very good car to be in a collision. I drive my old car very little but when I do drive on the roadways I drive like I'm driving a Mo-Ped. I give EVERYBODY the right of way.
I, personally, wouldn't like being this guys neighbor. Hearing "Taps" everyday at sundown would be a little over the top. And, something so touching as Taps shouldn't be heard so often that it becomes too familiar. Familiarity in this case may take away some of the poignant feeling that comes from hearing Taps played less often, like say, at a veterans grave site.
I'd see if I couldn't form a like minded committee to approach him and suggest that it be played on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, a veteran in the area who has died, etc., only. But not every evening.
I was in the army for 20 years and heard it in played on many U.S. Army bases every night at "lights out." (I can't remember at what time it was played but I don't think it was sundown. 2200 comes to mind. There were several bugle calls. Including reveille.) And, that, unlike a civilian neighborhood, is entirely a different situation and absolutely acceptable to me.
I think Taps dates from the Civil War. Maybe the battle of Fredricksburg (sp)? There's some ongoing controversy(sp) over its origin.
I hope my opinion doesn't rub anyone the wrong way. All are most certainly entitled to your own. Yes, some may view the video (Taps every night) in a completely different way. So be it. I respect everyone's opinion.
I guess this would be a little much every morning...smiles
Taps is much more appealing. He only plays 24 notes. After listening to Rap Bass from Honda Civics driving by at all hours of the day I think I could endure Taps.
Not only the bass booming all over the neighborhood rattling my windows, but those "Honda Civic" loud mufflers. Sounds like "The Fast And Furious" going up and down the streets at all hours of the day and night. I think I'd rather hear the "Taps" played.

I couldn't care less about grandfathered safety cra...errr, stuff....Back to the Tacoma Guy playing Taps Story....That's about as COOL AS IT GETS! Thanks for Posting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taps always hurts my heart. It also helps me remember that alot of kids have heard it through 6 feet of grass. A guess a moment of remembrance nightly is not too high a price on my heart. Bill
