Open the door and look inside the door panel opposite the exterior door handle. There is a hex head bolt that is threaded into the end of the door handle shaft. Remove this bolt and the handle will pull out of the door.

I believe the hex head bolt at the end of the handle shaft was used prior to 32,it was 31 and not sure of earlier. The handles on my 32 were held in by a small set screw accessed thru the door lock assy base. You should have a 1/8" hole directly in line with the handle shaft at a 90 degree angle and with a slotted screwdriver it can be removed. You may have to rotate the handle one way or the other to get the screw lined up with the hole. This design was probably used so the handle could be removed without removing the door trim panel. The Filling Station has the screw in their catalog and is part number GR-212. If yours has the handle with a screw in the end of the shaft someone has replaced the original with a 32 handle.

The Filling Station has replacement handles for both the inner and outer on the 32. You might want to use that for a guide on you plating cost. Also on the inner handles due to the process used in replating the splines on the inside can get destroyed or weakened. If you send them out check them before and after plating. I had mine plated and after installing the splines crumbled and broke when trying to use them. Good luck with your project and welcome to the Chevy Site. You might want to consider joining the VCCA. There at least six members with 32's in your area( Maine N.H. Vt.)so lots of information and help is available.

i just had my interior handles plated and learned a lot. the process ate the splines out of the inside thus making them fit quite loosly. no, making them spin freely. i am in the market for some filling station replacements. the process cost almost as much as new ones.

they don't make em like they usedta

No they don't make them like they usta and that's the good news. The original handles seem as if they were made of pot metal, especially after being pickled in acid for plating. Someone suggested drilling and pinning the handles but I think it would just lead to damaging the outer handle. Ask me how I know!!

Two I believe hold the support only and the center two are for the radiator. They are carriage bolts and the nuts are recessed in the fender center support assy.
