hi there,
My brother gave me an old steel trunk, the hinges had snapped off and the locking mechanism was also broken.
I made new solid brass locking flaps and tiny brass catches to complete the locks functions. All silver soldered.
3 new s/steel hinges,to the lid, the bolts and nuts welded to the trunk walls.
Painted with POR 15 and a pair of leather straps via ebay. Yesterday I bolted it to the rear carrier with S/Steel bolts and lock nuts.
I even designed and made the curved brackets to attach the carrier to the bumper bolts. I wanted to retain the spare wheel and have a means of carrying tools and other items when out on club runs.
In all it took about a week of on and off work in time, to make the restoration..

Dont destroy and forget, restore and remember for ever...
