According to the 1946 Salesmans Handbook the Fog lights were retangle. Does anyone know the size of these lights?
Any suggestions as to where to locate similiar lights? All the vendors sell the round ones. Thanks, Harold

They show up on ebay once in a while and they go for big money. Typically 500-600 for a pair. ONce in a great while, an unrestored one or pair will show up but people even pay 00-400 for an unrestored pair. It is crazy. i've been looking for over 10 years and have yet to find a pair that i was willing to pay for. :)

The 1941 and 1942 lamps were rectangular - but not the same. The 1946 lamps were the small round 4 5/8" lens light. The size was on the tag on top of the light along with the Guide name. They were used from 1946-1948. The literature wasn't always up-dated.

Are you saying round is correct for the 46 and not rectangle as the data book says? Is there any documentation on this? Parts books, etc? I appreciate your input as I am trying to restore as correctly as possible. Thanks, Harold

The fog lamp accessory number was 985990 or 986120 and application was 1946-1948. One number had cast brackets and the other (986120) had stamped brackets. The 1942 lamps were 985861 or 862 (single lamp or pair). They had a cfrome rim and painted body The 1941 lamps were 985716 or 717. They were all chrome with tall brackets

The Data book has helped me identify a tail lamp brkt. that I have. It is the brkt.that is mounted on the frame extension. I also have some license lamp lens that are marked 46 truck, but have been unable to find the part# in the parts book, I now believe they are the lens for the tail lamp shown in the same picture with the frame extensions.

985716 and 717 part numbers were discontinued in 1942 as they don't even appear in the 1944 parts book.

Don't know what books you are using but....Those 2 part numbers are clearly listed on the '46 truck accessories sheet here..... http://img.claspics.com/va7xauf/h9iy6nsk/1352927662-281.jpg_m.jpg?1352927672Besides 985716 & 985717 were reassigned in 1964 as Chevelle floor mats...so that blows a hole in the theory that those 2 numbers were "discontinued" in 1942.
