Not my car and no connections. Just wondering what the opinions on this beauty being sold through the St Louis Museum are? I think those are 1934 bumper guards on the rear. Real sharp looking car though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370674967754

fantastic 33 master roadster........love the 2 tone green and more specifically the stylelistically way its done.
only option it seems to be missing would be a rear view mirror with a clock in it. IF it was available ?

Beautifull car. Does anyone see anything incorrect? Is that side curtain right? Love to have it! Also a 33 cabriolet was listed yesterday 12 grand for a project, makes 50 seem reasonable.

Description says it has a foot pedal starter....The Starterator did not have a foot pedal. Rubber gaskets under various things such as tail light brackets and rumble seat steps. 1934 bumper guards on rear only. Is that air cleaneer chromed or high gloss black? Incorrect locking gas cap. All in all a very nice car but pictures can lie. Would be intresting to know how the mechanicals are.

Thanks Gene, I saw the referance to foot starter also but the pictures don't show one. Maybe it's a tad "over restored" Were door jambs natural or body color? Paint and body gaps are very nice. Jay

Jay tHE FRONT DOOR POST HAS A METAL COVER THAT NAILS OVER IT, THE REAR POST ATTACHED TO THE QUARTER PANEL ALSO HAS A METAL COVER OVER IT... THE DOORS THEMSELVES DO NOT HAVE COVERS OVER THE WOOD AND ARE NATUREL WOOD. I GUESS IF YOUR A JUDGE YOU WOULD HAVE TO KNOW WHETHER IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH THE WOOD PAINTED OR EXPOSED.?? SOMEBODY KNOWS WHO HAS AN UNRESTORED , UNREPAINTED ORIGINAL. MIKE

Upholstery seats and door panels not as original, windwings look like Model A brackets (drilled into stantions and not clamped), rumble seat material not original, white side walls, non-stock gas cap. Never-the-less a beautiful car and I hope it sells.

Last i saw this roadster was bid to opening bid of $42 G with buy it now around $49.9 G . I have no idea if thats right on the money or overpriced. These things just do not come up that often on ebay to be able to keep track of selling prices. I do remember a well done yellow and black 33 touring showing up last fall on ebay that was a no sale in the high $40g's . The touring is much rarer and more desirable in my opinion. Well its a great looking car with lovely 2 tone green paint, good looking upholstery with nice colour. Has side mounts and rumble seat. I do hate the way the side curtains are done. Anything not right with the car can be rectified over time. If i had $50G to toss at it i would. The economy is still in a tail spin down and things are not right to have these cars selling for big $$$ Never mind what those people are paying for 60--70 era HI-PO cars at barret jackson auctions. just my opinion mike

That '33 touring recently sold at auction.... I can't remember which one, or the price, but I do remember it sold. I'll try and find the result tomorrow...

I found the yellow phaeton listed last year, bid to $26,200 "reserve not met". Ended 9-10-11 seller was Howden Classis in SC. It's not curently in their invertory. Another example is a maroon 35 Standerd Phaeton. It was up twice in October 2011 and bid to $26 and $30K. No sale! Listed by: http://significantcars.com/cars/1935chevrolet/ It's still for sale at $47 or offer. Our Green 33 in the subject line ended yesterday morning with just the one bid and that was probably put up by the seller to show interest. Botton line? There just isn't the interest in these early stock cars. We like them but our garages are full and how much would you use one? Would I take off for a show or tour to the Bay Area (300+ miles) in that roadster? I don't think so. Just my opinion. Jay

Jay , the seller cannot place a bid on his own listing, nor can they get anybody to SHILL for them with a bid. Those are grounds for ebay tossing. !!
Okay 300 miles to a meet in a 33 chev roadster, no way you would make that drive. Could you please tell me why you would not drive a good running restored car that far on todays quality highways.
As one who is currently re-doing a 1934-35 std roadster I am interested in your thoughts. I have never ridden in a roadster, nor touring, what am I missing ??

Sellers regularly use friends to pump up the bid on their items; this is common practice and there's no way ePay can know about it. I've driven my '33 roadster thousands of miles and I can tell you it's great fun. These small, light cars perform almost like a sports car and it's a blast. The only problem is if it's Hot it's too hot and if it's Cold it's too cold but on a warm day or evening there's nothing like a responsive open car. For me the real value in the '33-'35 roadsters are their unparalleled styling and beauty; like driving a work of art.

Mike, I think Greencorn sumed it up pereftely, when the weather is nice there's nothing better. I'll be making that trip to Pleasanton Goodguys Saturday. For me,it means leaving at 4AM,meeting friends for breakfast at 7 then walk the fairgrounds till about 3,drive the 180 miles home by 6PM. I can do that in my '41 with the tall gears. Having said that, I would love to trailer a early car to a 4 day All-CAl and putt around with the top down. Reguarding the bid on the 33 it was just an off hand remark and should have kept it to myself. BTW I enjoyed your recent posting of the timeline on your 35 standard. Do you know Mile Bancroft? We were neighbors and members of Sacramento Region. Jay

I have a 35 standard 3 w coupe and even on the hottest days with side windows down and rear window rolled down, plus a layer of insulation on the firewall and 2 layers on the floor, its quite comfortable to drive around town in stop and go traffic. The roll down rear window addition really made the difference. For the chilly fall nights i have the factory heater with a multi speed reostat hooked up too the fan motor. I assume that you have wind wings on your roadster. One of the first things I bought for the roadster. People have said they really cut down and deflect the air away, so your not getting wind blown like in a hurricane. True ...false ??? I too love the stylistic swoopiness of the 33--34--35 chevrolets coupes and roadsters. mike

Ron,Well I don't know. Saw him last at a Inliners picnic in 2011. Did not see him in Flint and he usualy makes the National meets. We lived in Elk Grove in the 80's not close neighbors, maybe a mile apart. I don't know anything about his roadster. Well I just called him and got the dang machine. His member ship is curent so I asume he's OK I'll keep checking. Jay

I drove my car for a summer but did find the wind blowing in my face so installed wind wings; made a big difference. I couldn't find the correct stantion brackets so I made a set using 1 inch by 1/8th, then had them chromed. I did not want to drill the windshield posts and use model A parts.

Because i determined that trying to find wind wing brackets , stock, for 1933--1935 chev roadsters was going to be another one of those MISSION IMPOSSIBLE things .
I decided to buy 1933--1935 ford roadster parts that were on ebay , CHEAP and readily available. Also the ford parts for the swivel on the posts and also the bowtie knob to tighten are ford and very reasonable.!!!! Sometimes you get fed up knocking your head against the concrete wall looking for parts.
I now ***own the parts***, did not destroy my wallet buying them and when it comes to that time i need to use them , i will , if i have not found the stock parts over the next few years.
One of the wind wing brackets sellers supplied the glass pattern in the package. BONUS !!!
