Well, Steve, while your answer to the inquiry is well stated, here is my take on it.
The club is open to any and all and invite those who like Chevrolets to join us. You don't even have to own a Chevrolet.
Those who do have them are encouraged to preserve them as near to original as they personally and practically desire and can achieve. And, if one has a Chevrolet in need of restoration, they are encouraged to restore it to as close to factory specifications as, again, practical and personal circumstances and desire permit.
That said, I don't personally think a member of the club would not be a gentleman and thus welcome, with camaraderie, those whose cars are however far wide of the epitome of 100 per cent original. I sure don't envision anyone ever deliberately telling a member that neither he or his Chevrolet wasn't welcome. None of us, given the seemingly increasing and widespread desire to personalize a vehicle, are that obtuse.
While those in the club who hold "restoration and preservation" somewhat holy, may at times feel the purpose of the club may be slipping from original intent, we should never knowingly attempt to hurt anyones feelings.
Let's let the recognition by those with strong desires to widen the margin between restoration/ preservation and street rod, modified and rat-rod, et al, themselves be the driving, and only force, that makes them feel whatever degree of comfort they may or may not experience by belonging to a club whose mantel is the preservation and restoration of Chevrolets.
Just my two cents worth,
Charlie
