The restoration shop used Monroe rear replacement shock #33049 on my 50 FL special. The upper stem extends considerably above the plane of the trunk shelf. Even the top of the coupling is not contained in the pocket and would interfere with flush mounting of the trunk mat. Has any one done the correct installation, and where was the shock obtained from. Any help is appreciated. Richard

I did replace all 4, I got the shocks from the Filling Station and they came in a Monroe box, unfortunately some time has passed and a move to a new home have occured since then and the numbers have been lost. I would take a shock to NAPA or any good parts house explaine the problem and get into the MONROE shock book. You should be able to find correct replacements there. . talk

Thanks Glyn,
I have tried everywhere and have had the same response, "what you have is what we got and what it is is what it is." The answer was to cut the stem off flush with the nut. I will cover the nut with rubber when I lay out my mat. There will be only the slightest bulge.

I used Monroe 5803 on the rear and 5751 on the front.
