Is it possible there is one more digit on the casting number? My copy of Chevy Small Block casting number guide shows 3970014 as a 1968 or 69 350 for car and truck. Sid

Jerry, the book does not say whether it is 2 bolt or 4 bolt. Re-check your number, it should be 3970014. Sid

check the d26a casting date again. i suspect it should read d269 which would code as a april 26 1969 cast block. are you sure of the stamp pad data you supplied?mike

Looking further in the book, I found 3970010, and it shows... 350 200,255,270,300,330,370 car, truck and corvette for 1969-1979. Could it be that the 350 is cubic inches, and all the other numbers are horsepower? This book gives only very cryptic info. Sid
