For a four door... I don't think a quarter of that price would be right!

Makes you wonder why he is selling, doesn't it? People who build rigs like that should be made to keep them.

In my humble opinion, BOTH cars are georgeous. winner

The first one is "one of a kind".... custom engineered. Very nicely done. bananabang

The second one is "one of a kind".... engineered by GM and the Nazis during WWII. It used to be a member's car in the VCCA Northwest Region.

Is that Nazi quote right? The car is a '38, and the Nazi's were not in France until 1940...

Eastern Ed,

Well, you do have to appreciate the workmanship. BB and JD do and I do.

And, the asking price (87K) is only a little over half of what is claimed to have been invested (145K). What a deal! To be sure, someone will jump on this highly personalized 1938 sedan.

Maybe it could be trailered to some of our meets and displayed a good example of what "personalization" is all about and to demonstrate what can be accomplished by us old "preservation and restoration" folks if we just get off our butts and wallets and use a little imagination.

(Now, try to figure if I'm being serious or not.)

GM and the Nazis? Can you say a little more about that quote? 1938 would be a little early for the French ,GM and the Nazis to be building a car wouldn't it?

That is one beautiful 1938 coupe!! And, given the quality of the vehicle and the venue in which it sold, I am not surprised at the selling price. One thing to remember is that a high tech, high quality street rod will normally sell for two or three times higher than a restored car.

Asking a price and getting a price are two different things. These cars end up for sale for years and years. Same cars with same for sale prices stuck in the windows 10 years +. !

Eventually the price is brought down to some correct amount to what one person will pay.

How many times have we seen a car sell on barrett jackson auctions with whats his name saying , you could not restore / build the car for what the bid is. !!

cost $200G to build , sells for $70G

I wonder how many guys are really just FISHING. They list the car for a really high reserve and then brag about the high bid to others and knew it wouldn't sell anyway for that amount. You can always say " I was offered $XXXX for my old car but just couldn't let it go. I bet there are some on this forum....HHMMMM...Who could that be? blush

Knowing your previous track record, it was not too hard to come up with the correct answer.

SORTA. There has been talk of a forum for modified cars but so far it hasn't happen. I guess it depends on what you call modified. To some, if the headlight bulb doesn't have the correct number it's modified. To others it would have to be a streetrod to be called a modified car.
It's better to pretend you have a correct car and let others tell you you don't...grin

Either way, you'll get all the help you need and you are in the right place for sure. 99% of these guys play well with others and are willing to go the extra mile to help you with anything you can think of concerning old chevrolets. parking

Meant for johnod.
