The lever type shocks and the shock links are painted black.The pins that are on each end of the link were silver metal.-----Just a note----the correct term for the shocks is lever type shocks.The knee-action shocks were the shocks used in the front of 1939-48 cars with coil spring suspension.The shock levers on those models was also the upper controll arm-and was "built into" the suspension.And that suspension was refered to as knee-action by GM.
The outter steering tube, or mast jacket, was a tan color.It will be the same color as the steering wheel and horn button.This is true for most all cars and trucks.The steering gear housing (casting) is black.
