how in the !@#$R% do you take the hub caps off without doing damage???

Do you mean damage to the caps or the wheels? I use a large flat blade screwdriver to pry the cap loose after putting a couple of layers of duck tape on the wheel to keep from scratching it. I don't think you should have any problems hurting the caps themselves.
