at the risk of asking too many questions on the same day i will in case someone has knowledge of more than one of my problems. this one is simple: 1. what kind of sealant can i gun into the rubber chanels around the window glass? 2. what kind of gun? 3. does this ever work? the rubber seals look almost new... 4. my shop manual says to check the wiper transmissions but there are not any instructions as to how to remove it or what hazards one might encounter in that area. i do see rubber gaskets for sale in one catalog that fits under that transmision/wiper drive.
thank you all for any help to these probably silly questions to you old veterans out there. steven phelps spttvb@bellsouth.net

First off do not use silicone rubber in a tube to seal windows.I bought a 3M product in a small can and a pump with a wedge on the end on the spout .It is designed for this purpose.I bought it thru Clarks Corvair Parts.
The windshields in my '39 leaked for years. It happened only when driving in the rain at high speeds.I had sealed between the body and and rubber between the glass and the rubber with silicone several times with no luck. Then I replaced the left glass-using the 3M sealer as shown in manual.I cleaned and resealed the other side (with glass in place) and have had no more leaks. The sealer is almost a heavy liquid. There are other brands of sealers in a tube that I also tried with no luck.I will look up the price and number in Clarks catalog if you intrested.I have never seen the items for sale at a parts store etc.as they are more or less for professional use.
The wiper transmissions are held down by two bolts under the dash.If they leak you will see rust around them when looking under the dsah with a flash light.I doubt if thats what is leaking.

I checked the 2003 Clarks Catalog....The sealer is their number C 6923 and sells for $17.40...The sealer pump gun is # C 1715 and sells for 29.10.The prices have gone up since I bought mine 10 years ago. The picture in their catalog shows the can of sealer. It has the 3M number on the lable-its 08633.You may find it cheaper. Its called WindowWeld Resealant. The pump gun with wedge tip looks like a pump oiler less oil container can.It screws onto the sealer can.A pump oiler could possibly used and the end flattened slightly. Those can be purchased for a few $$.
