I noticed on my 51 Deluxe that with the wheels straight ahead and the car jacked up, there is no slop or freeplay in the steering gear box. However, when you turn the wheels either way to full lock there is alot of play in the steering gear box. What would be the possible solution for this problem?

That is the way it is designed. The worm gear has no play in the center because thats where it is going down the road. But when turning there is always pressure going one way. Always adjust the steering box with the wheels pointing straight.
