I just bought a fuel pump for my 38 sedan. The box says AC fuel pump 429, then below that is the full part number 1523429.
But on the pump itself, (on the edge of the diamond shaped wall that will butt up against my engine), it says 4987. That 4987 is incused into the metal.
There are a couple of other numbers, stamped in blue ink, but I think they are inspector's numbers.
I researched the site, and the 1523429 is correct, but I don't trust the box. Is the 4987 correct?

My 1929-50 Chevrolet parts book says:

Body casting # 1523089 (AC-429)
Part # 1523429

Other than that, I don't know. It may be an aftermarket rebuild or manufacture.

Thanks, Charlie, for looking it up. The pump itself is marked AC, so it could be rebuilt, but not aftermarket.
