New to the forum. Would like to ask someone what my working 1961 261 6-cylinder working engine might be worth. Not sure where to post this information. I would like to sell mine. It is on engine stand.

We are also members in a hot rod club (Rod Run to the End of the World) and the last one I heard of being sold went for $450. The felloow who sold it had nothing but problems with the 350 he replaced it with and wished he had the reliable old six back. They make an adapter plate to mount a 700R4 behind it and a '55 rear end makes a good conversion.

Thanks for the info!!! If you know of anyone who might be interested in one, let us know. Maybe we should try e-bay.

You could always try listing it here in the "For Sale" Forum...Of course, if you could figure out how to post a photo that would be nice to...Charlie says it would be good practice if your serious about listing on Ebay...Agrin

In my area, a running 235 "post 55" will go for $150. Just a comparison for you.

I have messaged you about the engine. Are you positive it is a 261?
