The oil line that comes out of the block passes between a pushrod and block then it passes between the cover and pushrod on it's way up to the head? Is this correct?

Did you forget to take a photo, while taking things apart...? In the good 'ol day's we had to stop and draw "pitures", lol.

What you describe sounds right...But then again I'm not standing there looking at it...sorry.

Send a PM to Tiny...He knows all about that line...smiles

You got it, I didn't quite get a good photo. But I'm pretty sure I have it routed correctly. I'm now onto worrying/figuring how to do my 1st valve adjustment! Uh oh!!!

Not sure if you've run your line yet. Just be careful to tuck yours neatly inside the side pan and make sure the bend sits inside the 'bump' are so the copper line doesn't rub it and break over time. Here's my '47's line after we put a freshened head and valves back on it.

Good luck getting yours up & running again. Hope you have success.

I've been trying to upload a pic to photobucket to post here but for some reason it keeps failing. I'll email you a pic showing the stock routing for a '38 216. IF I can get PB to cooperate I'll post a pic later.

Edit: you need to put your email in your profile or post it here for me to send you the pic. Mine is different from Daryl's.

Right on about the bump. If not it will rub a push rod and wear a hole in the line.

Here is a pre-rebuild picture of my '38 216. You can see where the oil line exits the block between 3 & 4 and proceeds up to the head.
