I would like to locate a locking outside door handle for my 1935 Master coupe. The ones which fit sedans are too short, and measure 5 1/16 from the key opening to the end of the shaft. The one I need is about 1/2 inch LONGER. If you have one, with or without the lock cylinder, I'd love to buy it.

If I read the catalog correctly, all '35 Master cars should use the same locking door handle. The Standard series cars use a different handle and might be the shorter shaft version you have encountered.

Thanks, Mike. Your response sent me to the Body Parts Price List that covers the 1935 models. It seems that all Master models could be equipped with EITHER of two outer handles, depending on the INNER handle used on that particular car. As you noted, the model designation (coupe versus sedan, for example) is irrelevant. All that matters is the specific inside handle, and either of the two inside handles was available on any model. Specifically, outer handle 4061481 was used with inner handle 4058983', whereas outer handle 4059812 was used with inner handle 4061443. Problem is, I cannot tell which inside handles I have,but the one on the right side is clearly the wrong one.
Anyone out there with two different inside handles for a 1935 Master?

Are there any numbers cast in the hollow part of the back side of your outside handles?

Note that there was only a handful of 1935 Masters with the early style handle mounted on the very front edge of the door. would be willing to bet yours is at the front of the arm rest.
The incorrect length handle you have is most probably for the rear door of a 19365 Master which is the same handle used on the front and rear door of the 1936 cars. Could also be from a 1934 which is a different length again.
Your best bet would be to contact the VCCA 1935 Master tech. advisor if you are a VCCA member.

Thanks for those observations. My Master does appear to be the early model. Both the inside and outside handles are as far forward as can be. My outside handle may be a rear or a 1936, so I will keep looking. In case anyone out there has a locking handle that is 5 1/2 inches from outside edge to the end of the shaft, I could sure use it.
