I have a complete set of knockout punches for sheetmetal. What I need is a knockout that punches a square hole. The hole needs to be the exact size as a bumper bolt hole. Has anyone ever seen one or know where I can buy one? I need to punch three holes .
Funny the hole punch for round holes came up 2 weeks ago at a gab session at a friends shop. I needed to fill some extra holes in my roadster firewall.
He gave me the name : GREEN LEE , brand name , hole punch set......went to ebay and found sets for round holes, did not see any for square holes , wasn't looking for them. I imagine they make them also. Or contact / google the company.
Other option is too drill a hole and using a square file , open it to the size needed.
That's what I have now ,they're made for electrical boxes. I need a punch like that, but for a square hole.
Steve...What you need is a good square FILE ....Punch the hole size you need and then sit down on a comfy cushion an file the hole square. Or if you are gullible you can order a set of drills from one of those ad's they have on late.late.late TV movies that only show movies featuring those Japanese monsters. Like "The June bug that Ate Tennessee". These drill bit are guaranteed to drill a perfect SQUARE HOLE..or your money back...And if you order in the next 30 minutes we will send you 2 sets (only pay extra shipping & handling.......Good Luck with that....ED

I fear all you'd be doing in the way of "punching" is making dents...Filing a hole square is a lot of fun...Just ask Ed how much "character" it builds...Enough of that...Before you do start filing use a "Scratch Awl" to lay-out the square...No sense in filing anymore than you have too. Besides you want it to look "purdy"...What the heck are you bolting up now, anyway...?

Disclaimer: I have no idea if this is for real. I'd drill a hole, scribe the square, and file it out. Maybe use a Dremel to get it close and then file the rest.
Cheers, Dean

Aren't holes by definition round? Just saying. Charlie
My Dictionary says "hole"...empty space in a solid body. B...opening in or through something. and many other things. There is NO reference to a "hole" being round.....ED
Charlie.....I am going to loan you the opposite of my closing statement. "I was right only once in my life but that time I was wrong and only thought I was right"

Did you knee-jerk so violently that you failed to notice the "grin" icon before having gleefully dashed off to seek guidance from your little ol' lexicon and thus display, yet again, a failure to resist the temptation to correct ol' Charlie?
Wow, look! There it is again! I wonder what it means. He, he!
Charlie
BTW: You may remove your thumbs from your braces now.
