In a modern replaement tire for example
Goodrich 3 5/8", Firestone 3 1/4",
Chevrolet used US Royal, firestone and Goodrich in 1951 and the white wall width was also slightly different for the various brands back then as it is today. I have the Firestones on my 1950 and they are the only tire that available today that has the same tread and side walll design as was used originally in the early 1950's. Also the white walls stay white.

I remember my old man buying US Royal tires for his 52 Styleline Deluxe at our local ESSO station back in the day.

My best friends father in law purchased a new Olds hardtop in 1955, he picked it up at the factory and drove it home, coming across a long flat stretch in N.D. he put the pedal to the metal and at about 95 had two tires go flat. The tire shop determined that the tires had flexec so much at speed that they deflated(tubeless). They were US Royals, per the friend. talk

Pretty cool. Wish I could have been along for the ride.
Anything over 60 is scary in my 51. Not sure my radials with tubes would take that either.
You guys out in the N. Plains are lucky to be able to do that. Back east here, the smokies are all waiting for us to nudge that speedo over 70. Then we get to go before the "honorable Doc Hudson." LOL
