Are the main bearings in a 36 Master poured or inserts ?

Are the rod bearings poured or inserts ?

Thanks.

My Chevy is over 70 years old and still running great. I hope I keep running cuz I just turned 81 !!

The main bearing are inserts. The rod bearings have the babbitt attached directly to the rod.
The original main bearings required line boring after replacement. After 1949 Chevrolet sold precision bearings for the 1936. This required replacing all the bearing but after that just one could be replaced....and the line boring was no longer required.

Hi Old Crank, I was wondering if you ever came up with new main bearings or if you kept your old ones? I'm in the same situation, rebuilding a 207 that could use new mains but I'm having trouble locating a supplier. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Ken

Pauls Rod and Bearing Service near K.C. MO can repour your rods and main bearing shells. He will size your rods but prefers that you line bore the mains after installation.
