Is there a rubber seal in the water pumps, is all gaskets? I'm wondering if rebuilding a water pump is basically new gaskets, but I can't find what keeps the water from coming out of the shaft/pulley area?

its a sorta gland packing, its available from you local hardware store, I've been told, but not over here in Australia.
Bunnings and others rule the roost and provide nothing for us 0ld car restorers.............. so have a look locally if you dare!

Try McMaster-Carr. They have everything.
