Hello,
I'm not talking about the popular Ladies book! blush blush

I am trying to find out what Brand of paint and the Gray color name to use on my 1946 AC L-4 Oil Filter. Enamel, Lacquer, etc.

Also suggestions as to where I can get the correct Decal.
Thanks for your help.

The side decal was actually on the wide band that held the filter to the manifold ...it is #D-246 in the Filling Station catalog. it is in yellow and black. I can not find the decal that was on the lid . It has AC L-6 in black and yellow.
The filter had a very thin coat of enamel on it.Probably about the same light gray as an old Ford tractor.

Thanks for your response.

Mine is connected to the manifold via a special bracket that connects under the carb and to the horm mount on the manifold.
There is also a photo of the Bracket installation kit.
THe decal sold by Jim Carter is also for the L-6 filter.
Someone out there must sell the decal for the L-4 filter, I hope!

I finally found the decals for the AC L-4 oil filter.
The Filling Station P/N D-681 & D-932.
I have been told that Battleship Gray is close to the original color. The original paint was Lacquer.
Thanks for your comments.

Battle Ship gray was a medium dark gray. The filter was a medium light gray and enamel was used as it was cheap and did not require a primer.

Gene,
I used the lighter gray as you suggested. Will post a picture soon.
