NOS also should mean the part is new and has never been installed. I have seen sheet metal parts touted as NOS that were rusted, rotted out, dented, etc. While these parts may be correct for a particular car they certainly aren't NOS. Another phrase used on e-bay is "it came off a such and such car". This means nothing unless the car is completely original and you have no way of knowing if this is the case. Over the years people made changes to the parts on these cars. Sometimes correct parts were used and other times whatever parts were available were used. I have even seen Ford parts on Chevy cars. The moral of the story is do your homework and be sure the part you are buying is correct for your car.
