I have a ? about posting pictures.
When I posted a picture of my car in the "random photos" section I had no problem (except size of photo) I was allowed to pull that photo from my photo album in my home computer.
Why then cant I pull photos to post in the discussion section from my computer???? In other sites I belong to this is no problem. Why does this site require a non private "photo Bucket" to pull from????Thanx Ed1938

I would expect that a telephone conversation with Steve and Tiny or some others that have been successful in posting pictures would prove more valuable than what they could print here. Sort of talk you through the process, if you will.

Ed... Bill would be the guy to answer this better, but I believe it's a financial reason. It costs money for bandwidth to store all of the information that we upload to our site, and pictures take up a lot of space. By using a photo-hosting site, a lot of the cost is deferred to them, as we only post links to their site. Besides, once you have the hosting site set up, it is easier to manage your pictures in albums that you have posted. If you would like some help setting up a photobucket account, PM me and I'd be happy to help as well.

Actually the reason is that this site is setup like many others, in order to post an image into the general discussion (non VCCA members) you just are posting a link to a image that is already on an internet site. like photo bucket, snapfish or picture trail.

Thanx to all the folks who responded to my question about picture posting.I think the answer is like some of you said, the expense of storing the pictures.
I don't need any help if I wanted to post from a "Photo Bucket" I have been using a computer for many,many years (I had a wood fired computer when I started out).

I don't have a "photo Bucket" because I DONT WANT ONE I do not trust them with any of my information ( beware of Geeks bearing gifts). Many thanks again..ED
BTW...I thought maybe the Boss Man of the web site would answer the question...Maybe if I would have asked this question in the wrong forum he would have jumped in.

Maybe it is because he is going to be gone for awhile. It isn't because of space, if it was he would have deleted all the crap that is older than 2 years.

Ed , I don't quite understand what you meant about not trusting sites such as "photo bucket", etc, with your photo's...Are you afraid they might lose them...? Or are you unsure of their alternator motives...?

Why do "photo bucket" sites advertise there services FREE!
Is it because even though they don't even know you they Love you and just want to "do you a favor"???... Yea sure.
Folks don't spend $$$ on web site cost and maintenance just to give there space away free..That's why I say "Beware of Geeks bearing gifts & there is no such thing as a free lunch.
I childhood friend of mind ,who lives in Arizona (Jim) who corresponds with me on occasion joined "Face Book" ( And yes I know that Face Book Is not a photo bucket site but It's another scam with a different name ) All Of a sudden I started getting e-mail every day saying "Your friend Jim wants you to join him on Face Book.
I e-mailed him about this and he shot back that allot of folks on his contact list said the same thing. They (Face Book) went through his contact list and sent the message to everyone on it. Jim tried to close his account with them but they ignore him and still make his life miserable.....Now if you want to get stuff like that FREE have at it ....Not Me....Ed

Ed... I'll go on the record as saying that Photobucket is not a scam. They have not used my email or contact lists for anything. They were set up as a photographers site to share photos. Their "scam" is that they have a limited amount of room for you to load photos on, then you must pay to upgrade to a "professional" type account when you run out of room, or erase photos from your account to make more room. Photographers pay the yearly fee (It's really cheap) to keep their thousands of photos. I have tons of Photos loaded up, and have not run out of room yet. Even if I ever do, all of my photos are on my own computer as well, so I am not at risk of losing them. Photobucket is also paid for by the advertising around the edges... just as this site is!
