Like a lot of eBay sellers of Chevrolet parts, he is also incorrect. There were two Viking radiator caps used between 1929 and 1931. The 1929-30 Viking was a "screew" on type since the radiator filler neck on the 1929 and 1930 models was threaded. The 1931 Viking is a bayonet type (twist on) and the Viking was an early 1931 accessory. Later in 1931 the Eagle radiator cap was offered, and the Eagle cap was used on the 1932 models as well.
Also, the seller fails to mention that the complete bottom half of the Viking that is on eBay is missing! He is selling the top half only.  :( :( :( :(

The base of the 31 cap is what is refered to as a locking cap. After you put it on you tighten screws to clamp it on the neck. It takes a ***** driver to remove it. To open it to check or ad water you twist the top ans swing it open. If you are going to open your hood you better turn the cap 90- deg. or you will hit the wings and break them off. That is another reason you don't find very many.

Check your other posting here on Chat. I linked it to the manufacturer of the Viking.
The Filling Station has NEVER sold the Viking - only the Eagle.
You only option for used is eBay or a Wanted posting.

The Filling Station sells both the 1930 Viking at $615.00 and the 1931 Viking at $695.00. They have sold the Viking cap for years. Regarding a "cheap" Viking cap....I have seen broken Viking caps sell for as much as $250 to $300.

Hey Rip, Think you slept longer than you remember. I have often done the same thing. I just looked at the June 2009 Filling Station catalog and the price was $615 for the '29-'30 and $ 650 for the '31 in it. Yes I know it a pricy but the part is first class and loooooonnnnnnnggggggg lasting stainless to boot.
