Hi all
Any one recall how to re-install or bed the wire
to make the gas gauge work. I soldered on a brass float
I attempt to place the wire to the left in the tank , but
it hits something I cannot see. Driving me nuts !!!

I'm sorry but don't understand what you are trying to do. Did you solder the float in the same orientation as the cork? Is it possible the float is larger diameter than original corks? If the wire is soldered to the outside of the float it might make it too thick.

I have replaced several cork floats with a brass one. I replace the wire and slide the float into a 3/4 circle bent into the end of wire. There should be an article in one of the next G&Ds on how to do it.

Ray couldn't figure out how to get the article into the Tech Talk Forum or it would have been available on ChatII.

David, So I gather there is a divider in the way. The corks I tried sink after a while so I put on a metal carb float instead.
but I can't see what I am hitting inside the tank.,

You may need to look into using a brass float out of a 1955 Chevrolet fuel gauge. This one is from Danchuk

That item looks wonderful.
I did find my problem the gauge itself has a side
which locks to the empty and full side. I had the
gauge arm mounted on the wrong side. I set the whole thing
to read next to empty, that way my son will always fill it up....
Great Grand dad taught me that...
