I make several purchases on eBay and other vendors. This means I receive many packages. I am amazed at the number of vendors that abuse the US Post Office. It is not uncommon to receive a package with a small item therein, and the extra space is filled with Priority Mail Boxes. Sometimes the item is wrapped in a Mailing Envelope. No, all these items are NEW and not used. It cost someone for this abuse, and guess who? You and Me. Our Postal Service is experiencing rising costs and this I am sure contributes to that cost.

If you are a shipper, please don't do it.

If you receive examples of waste---notify the shipper that is not your game.

Good point, Ray.

Stuffing oversize boxes can be done economically with bubble wrap or even old newspaper crumpled up. Besides, it's sometimes interesting to read newspapers from out of town dance

I love those "out-of-town" newspapers...I find it interesting to read about whats happening in their "neck a the woods"...Read the "want ads"...Marvel at all that cheap real estate...!

I haven't had much of a problem with Ebayer's...The FillingStation I'm not to happy about, in that respect...

I get packages all the time with postal boxes as packing. I've never seen UPS and FED EX offer free boxes that can be used as packing. You wouldn't believe the people who use those boxes to move from apartment to apartment. The dumpsters are full of those boxes.Nothing is free, someone has to pay.In this case it's the taxpayers. orangeupset

I agree with all of the above.

I suggest we all send letters (not email) to our elected officials about this situation. The US Postal Service should charge for the boxes, just like everyone else does.

You must also consider that some of the boxes used for packing may have already been used once. We try to use used USPS boxes to ship whenever we can. It not only saves taxpayer money to produce the boxes but also to dispose of them. We also try to use newspaper and other recycled packing materials when ever we can. This is one of the few times when recycling actually has a positive total value.

Great idea, but nothing's gonna change...It's a near perfect business model...Box's are cheap...The Post Office is trying to pull ahead by offering free box's and that's why I use the USPS...And if you don't like the high prices of "priority", if it fits/it ships...Do what I do, shop the "Safeway" early Saturday morning or late at night...When their stocking the shelves...Box's everywhere, take your pick...They love it when you clean-up after them, too...You can save real money and still ship "priority"...Use your own box...And don't use their label, either...
