Can the inner mldg be removed without ruining the clips? If the clips can't be saved, what would you use to replace them. The ones on the cover look pretty good but they are almost 80 years old. Any tips on restoring this part would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom in S. C.

The molding cannot be removed without removing the clips. If the clips are not rusted they come off very easy. You would not want to paint the cover with the molding on there. I have bought the clips before but don't remember where. I had to send a sample to them to match it up as they were not in a catalog.

If the clips are the same as 34, you just twist them with a screw driver. There is a slot on the clip, you can find them on e-bay now and then.

Anything you can do to remember where you bought the clips from would be very useful.

What about removing the cloissone bowtie emblem? How is that done so that it can go back on?

Well the mld. has been removed. the clips didn't look to be in that bad of shape. wrong....out of the seven clips, 2 are very good reusable, others may be usable but 2 or 3 definately gone. 32 confederate, you were right. its just a twist clip that you use a screwdriver. If someone knows a source for the clips, please let us know. The outside mldg. needs some work but I don't think I would chance taking it off. Thanks, Tom

Try sending one of the clips to "Auto Hardware Specialties in Sheldon, Iowa. I have not found a way to restore the Chevy Emblem but I do have one that may be better than yours, though not perfect.
