The shifter does not want to go into reverse. I figured it was probably something to do with the reverse lock-out finger grip on the shifter and that it would be easily fixed. My Chevrolet dealer tells me I need a whole shifter assembly, which isn't available anywhere. Has anyone had any experience with this or know of someone who stocks new or used shifter assemblies?

I have had that style shifter apart before but do not remember all the details. Have you had it apart or find someone that will take it apart and fix it. It may just need to be lubed in the right place to free up the linkage.

Thanks. Would like to find a spare to be able to see how it all fits together and how it works. Will have to quiz the guys working on it to see if they can be more definitive about why it needs replaced.

You might check with Bare Corvette in Linesvill Pa. He ships all over the world, does repair work and also has a Corvette junk yard.

Thanks. The dealer found one and then I found one at Just Corvettes that was $100 cheaper. Still kind of pricey, but what you gonna do?? Hopefully, this one will do the trick.

If you have it installed at the dealer be sure and save the old one. You can then maybe find what was wrong and may be able to fix and have a spare.

Yes. I've already told the dealer I want my old part. As you say I'm hoping once we get it off the car I can figure out what's wrong with it and fix it in case this replacement unit fails. I only have 76,000 miles on the car. Didn't think this would give out on me. Maybe not a good design...
