During my rewire, I had to swap the wires to the gas gage so it would register. The gage is on as soon as I connect the battery. Don't remember, but think the gage should go on when you turn the key on and go to empty when you turn the key off.
Can you check your gages and advise?
Thanks.

The gauge should only register when you turn on the ignition key. You have the gauge wired so that it is hot all the time.

JYD and ED have it right. Key off.....gage off. Key on....gage on.

That's how my 48 works.

Took a look at how I wired the ignition switch and found it was wrong. Rewired per YNZ instructions and looks like everything is working correctly for now.
