Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between bumpers on a 28 chev vs a 28 buick, and if so, if they'll fit?

have a line on a set I need for my chev, but it looks like their buick...

thanks much,

-Chris

I know in 1927 the factory did not install bumpers. If a customer wanted bumpers they were installed at the dealer. Every dealer got their bumpers from differnt sources, not Chevrolet. That is why it is rare to see two 1927's with the same bumpers.

I'm guessing this may have been the same in 1928

January 1928 Chevrolet Service News (CSN) shows picture of the 1928 bumpers available for the 28 cars.

Actually, Chevrolet introduced Chevrolet bumpers for the 1925 cars.

CSN #1, PG 3, shows the Chevrolet bumper for the Capital (1927) Chevrolet.

Bumpers were a dealer installed item.

Thanks guys.

Seller decided not to sell, so I guess I'm still on the lookout.
Good to know they were a dealer item. I have an aftermarket front bumper that I believe is from that era,

but I'd like to be as original as possible.

I just found a guy in Florida who is parting out a 1928 Coupe and is willing to sell the parts. I saw pictures of his car and the bumpers looked to be in pretty good shape, and match my two 28s. His email is Shanetfly1@aol.com or 386 935 0143 (Shane). He is a real nice guy and will probably sell to you if you make him a fair offer. He is not trying to get top dollar for things, just a fair price for what he has. I have talked to him about buying several parts, and he is a real nice guy to deal with. Just treat him fairly and say Art referred you. Last set of bumpers I saw were in the $200-300 range depending on condition. Shane would probably send you pictures. Hope it works out for you.
