Hello, Somehow during my repair of generator, I lost the washer and shim on the drive end !Does any one WHERE I can get these parts????? Filling Station does not have them.Or at least what they look like. Its funny because I dont recall removing them!

Can you be more specific and define what you are calling a washer and a shim?

Yes, a "Washer,drive end" #812496 and a "Washer,drive end shim" #805727. As stated in my Master parts book'

Wow...it's a starter and not a generator. That makes a major difference!

Okay, on the Bendix drive end, there are basically three different sizes of thrust washers used. However, it depends upon the distance between the end of the Bendix drive and the inside of the nose cone as to how many of each you need.

Ok, I can measure the distance. But again where do I get these thrust washers? Also, When the armature is pushed to the opposite end, I noticed that there will be a significant recessed space on the drive end.In other words,maybe the armature is not centered correctly between the bushings.

The thrust washers are used to take up the excess end play between the end of the Bendix drive and the nose cone. With the correct number of thrust washers in place the armature should only move back and forth about a 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch.

You can get the thrust washers at your local starter shop for the 714-L starter.
