Thanks for the information....and that is good to know about a vehicle that is undergoing restoration.

Years ago when I first signed up with J.C. Taylor I specifically asked them about a car that I was restoring and they said that it was covered.....including all of the parts and pieces to the car that were on the shelf. The vehicle was actually part of my combined vehicle coverage for many years while I was working on it.

Obviously, from what you have found out, they have apparently dropped that coverage, which I think would be a negative to J.C. Taylor when comparing them to Hagerty for services and prices. At this point, Hagerty sounds like probably the overall best deal.

I also know of two VCCA members (one was me) that have had claims and Hagerty insurance. Both were settled satisfactorily. In one case Hagerty helped with coordinating other insurance as well.

I had two claims about a year apart with Hagerty Insurance. They were settled fairly and quickly with very little fuss.
I'll stay with Hagerty.

Sure not like everyday modern car insurance.

My everyday modern insurance is with AMICA and their service has been excellent. I have never seen a company that settles as fast as they do and I have never had a hassle. My wife's car was recently hit in a parking lot by a hit and run. I notified them, sent a copy of an estimate by a shop of my choice and I had their check within a week. It's good to have the positive feedback on Hagerty from those who have actual experience. The salesperson there was very knowlegeable and offered ways for me to save money rather than trying to sell me something I did't need. They have a $100.00 min charge, but there is only one liability charge when insuring multiple vehicles so if I insure my 32 for $20,000 agreed value and my 51 for $5000.00 and 250,000-500,000 liability/ same for uninsured motorist my total cost will be $200.00. When I asked for the increased liability amounts she inquired if I had an umbrella policy( which requires the higher amounts) which I do, so I had confidence the person I was dealing with knew the business and was not a "fill in the blanks person". They will get my business!
